Cinnamon Apple Bread

This cinnamon-scented quick bread tastes like autumn in every bite. The loaf is dense and cake-like, folded with softly sweetened apples and crunchy walnuts, then finished with a sugared walnut topping for extra texture and sweetness.

Choose firm apples so the pieces hold their shape during baking. Tart varieties like Granny Smith or firm sweet types such as Honeycrisp or Red Delicious work well. You can also combine varieties for a balance of tartness and sweetness.

How to Make Apple Bread

Quick breads take a little time in the oven but are very straightforward to prepare. The steps below keep the process simple and reliable.

  • Prep the apples by peeling and chopping them into small pieces. Chop the walnuts if they aren’t already broken into pieces.
  • Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk the wet ingredients in a separate bowl, then stir them into the dry mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the apples and half of the walnuts. Transfer the batter to a greased and floured loaf pan, then sprinkle the remaining walnuts mixed with brown sugar on top.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan briefly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Despite its rich flavor, this bread requires minimal hands-on time and is forgiving to make.
