Type of food
Rincón Ibérico’s menu draws from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, and broader Latin American traditions. The result is a thoughtful mix of tapas, mains, and seafood plates that blend classic flavors with chef-driven presentation.

The dining experience sits comfortably between classy-casual and fine dining: linen-set tables, artful plating, and attentive service create an elevated yet relaxed evening.
Food menu favorites
The menu offers a variety of regional dishes. Highlights to consider:
- Tapas, including croquetas and other Spanish small plates
- Paella, prepared with fresh ingredients and bold flavors
- Mofongo, a Puerto Rican specialty and a must-try while visiting
- Seafood dishes featuring local catches
- Signature cocktails and sangria from the drink menu

MOFONGO
Mofongo is a beloved Puerto Rican dish made from mashed fried plantains seasoned with salt and often garlic. It’s served warm and can replace mashed potatoes as a hearty side. Typical pairings include churrasco (steak), chicken, or shellfish, making it a versatile and satisfying menu choice.

Atmosphere
Inside, Rincón Ibérico feels like an intimate cocktail bar and neighborhood restaurant combined. There are small two-top tables, a well-appointed bar with stools, and warm lighting that enhances the modern interior. The flamenco-leaning soundtrack adds a pleasant cultural touch.

Location in San Juan
The restaurant is tucked into the Ballajá section of Old San Juan, accessible through the historic Barracks across from Castillo San Felipe del Morro. The large square and surrounding arches create a memorable approach, and one of the lower archways leads directly to Rincón Ibérico’s entrance.

Barracks Across El Morro
The Cuartel de Ballajá (the Barracks) is a beautiful historic square that’s worth exploring on its own. Its architecture and open space set the scene for a lovely meal in Old San Juan and make finding the restaurant part of the experience.
