Step two: Cook on low for 8 hours until the roast is fork-tender.

  • Tip: Cooking on high can make the roast tough. Low and slow gives the best, most tender results.

Step three: Shred the beef with two forks, pile it onto buns, and top with provolone or your preferred cheese.

  • Optional: Place assembled sandwiches briefly under the broiler or in a hot oven to melt the cheese.

  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 8 buns
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Cook on low for 8 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shredded with forks.
  • Shred the cooked beef, drain excess liquid if desired, and spoon the meat onto buns. Top each sandwich with a slice of provolone and warm in the oven to melt the cheese if you like.
