This past week I set out to find Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries by Heinz at my local Sam’s Club.
My mom and I enjoyed sampling a few things on the way to the freezer aisle, where I quickly found the fries.

Once I had the fries, I started thinking about dipping sauces. What pairs well with sweet potato fries?
In Oklahoma and much of the Midwest, one dipping sauce shows up on almost everything: ranch. Sweet potatoes dipped in ranch sounded perfect, but I prefer a thick, creamy, chunky dip rather than the thin bottled dressing.
Inspired by my dill dip, I decided to create a similar, heartier ranch-style dip.
After Sam’s Club I stopped at Target to pick up ingredients for what I call Oklahoman Creamy Ranch Dip.

This dip was a hit at home. My husband doesn’t usually like sweet potatoes and my son is going through a picky phase, but they both loved these fries with the dip. My son especially enjoyed licking the dip off the fries before eating them.
I was hesitant about the frozen fries at first since I normally make my own, worried they might be too crispy or salty like regular fries. They surprised me — they were delicious and tasted similar to my baked sweet potato fries. We’ll be buying these more often and making this dip regularly. The dip is great with sweet potato fries, pretzels, and vegetables, and I suspect it would be tasty with pizza too.
This project was part of a #OreIdaFries shopping mission for Heinz with #CollectiveBias. The thoughts, opinions, and recipe are my own.
